MJ wore a lot of gloves during his stint as a world super star, but this particular one has special significance. Jackson wore the glove during his 1983 “Billie Jean” performance, complete with moonwalk, which propelled him into mega stardom.

So, if you’ve got the desire (and a huge chunk of cash!), come on down to the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City’s Times Square on November 21 to bid!

The glittery glove that Michael Jackson wore when he unveiled his moonwalk on TV in 1983 is hitting the auction block.

This one isn’t like his other glittery gloves, which were made for the right hand and adorned with hand-sewn crystals. This left-handed glove, which accompanied Jackson’s fedora and dance moves on Motown’s 25th-anniversary TV special, is a modified, store-bought glove covered with a mesh of rhinestones.

The glove, which Darren Julien of Julien’s Auctions called “the Holy Grail of Michael Jackson memorabilia,” will be featured alongside other one-of-a-kind items — such as an early Madonna demo tape and unreleased Jimi Hendrix lyrics — at the Nov. 21 “Music Icons” auction at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City’s Times Square.

Walter “Clyde” Orange, a founding member of the Commodores, has been holding onto the glove since Jackson gave it to him in 1983.

According to the LA Times, the estranged father of the King of Pop wants to build a shrine for Michael in Las Vegas for fans to come and remember him. Fashioned along the lines of Elvis’ Graceland or Michael’s own Neverland Ranch, the proposed shrine would immortalize the pop singer. But will anybody listen to Joe? He’s already been pushed out of the chance to raise Michael’s kids. We have a feeling mommy Katherine’s running the show in the Jackson household. We’ll have to see how she feels about this idea.

Michael Jackson’s father said he supports building a shrine to the pop star along the lines of Neverland Ranch in Las Vegas, where Jackson lived for several years.
Joe Jackson told E! that his son has not yet been buried but that he would like to see Jackson memorialized in Las Vegas with some sort of facility like Neverland, Jackson’s compound in Santa Barbara County.
“I think Vegas would be great,” Joe Jackson said. “The fans would come.”

By Halloween of this year, you may get your chance to see footage of Michael Jackson’s final days. Sony-owned Columbia Pictures just finalized plans to make a film involving footage of Michael Jackson’s rehearsals from the big AEG Live concert series.

The company paid a whopping $60 million for rights to over 100 hours of footage, which they will compile into a feature-length film. Columbia finally came to an agreement with Jackson reps and AEG Live following weeks of negotiations. We can’t wait to see it!

MTV reports the details:

Columbia Pictures has solidified its plans to bring a Michael Jackson film — complete with footage of his final rehearsals in preparation for a comeback tour — to theaters in the fall, according to The Associated Press.

After weeks of negotiations, Columbia, which is owned by Sony, agreed to pay $60 million for rights to the project. The agreement was reached Friday between Columbia, concert promoter AEG Live, Jackson’s representatives and others.

All that remains is for a Los Angeles judge to approve the deal at a Monday hearing, when Jackson’s mother, Katherine, will have an opportunity to raise any objections.

The deal includes the rights to more than 100 hours of rehearsal footage, clips that were intended to be used during Jackson’s comeback concerts at London’s O2 arena, as well as merchandising, special DVD editions and product tie-ins. Among the prohibited tie-ins are products related to alcohol, tobacco, gambling and pharmaceuticals, along with personal-hygiene products and firearms. Jackson’s company would receive 90 percent of the movie’s profits, and AEG would receive the rest.

UPI reports that a portrait of Michael Jackson painted by the iconic artist Andy Warhol will be available for viewing in London. The O2 arena (the venue where MJ was planning to kick off a huge concert series this year) is the lucky host of the portrait, created in the colorful pop-art style reminiscent of the artist’s most famous images. If you’ll be in London this weekend, don’t miss the opportunity to see the picture before it gets sold at auction in New York!

UPI has more:

Artist Andy Warhol’s 1984 portrait of the late pop star Michael Jackson is going on display at London’s O2 arena before it is sold at auction in New York. The rendering will be exhibited at the venue where Jackson had been scheduled to start a series of concerts this month. Jackson died June 25 at the age of 50. He had been practicing for the O2 concert series in the weeks leading up to his death, which is still under investigation.

Warhol died in 1987 after undergoing gall bladder surgery. He was 58.

“This Andy Warhol portrait brings together the uncontested King of Pop Art with the uncontested King of Pop,” Janet Lehr, the private collector’s representative told the BBC. “The portrait was painted at the height of their careers and is a celebration of two of the great talents in global cultural history.”

Does Michael Jackson deserve a Nobel Peace Prize?

At least 15,000 fans think he does, and they’ve signed a petition circulating around the Internet aimed at rewarding the King of Pop for his humanitarian efforts. AFP reports that the petition has an ambition goal of one million signatures.

Even if they manage to get that many supporters though, the petition’s still got a couple of problems. First of all, petitions can’t get anyone a nomination; the nominator has to be an official person designated by the Nobel Committee. Second, and more importantly, well…Jackson’s dead. Nobel Prize recipients can’t be nominated posthumously.

Oh well. We like the enthusiasm of these fans!

More than 15,000 people have signed an Internet petition calling for the late pop star Michael Jackson to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2010.

Started by an American college student, the petition praises Jackson for his commitment to humanitarian causes and calls on the Norwegian Nobel Institute to name the singer as next year’s winner.

“We the Undersigned, believe Michael Jackson has given of himself completely and selflessly in a lifelong effort to help better global conditions for children, and all of humankind,” the petition said.

“Michael Jackson has undoubtedly earned the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize,” said the petition posted at www.petitionspot.com/petitions/mjnobelpeaceprize.

The Web petition has a stated goal of one million signatures and had more than 15,000 supporters on Tuesday.

When news of Michael Jackson’s sudden death first came to light in late June, millions of fans went to their computers to find out more. USA Today reports that those same fans may have fallen victim to vicious cyber attacks and spam campaigns, perpetuated by professional cybercriminals.

When Michael Jackson died on June 25, his fans mourned — and cybercriminals swung into action.

Within 38 hours, they forged alliances with familiar partners to trigger global spam campaigns that capitalized on the singer’s death.

That was a potent reminder of the dangers that computer-savvy lawbreakers pose in a world that increasingly depends on the Internet for communications and commerce.

If you received unsolicited emails about Jackson’s death, or if you clicked on suspicious links or pop-ups, your sensitive information may be at risk. Be smart when you’re surfing the net! Read the specific details of their spam campaigns:

By dawn on Saturday, a top botnet gang, Waledac, had a client: a well-known online drug retailer, GlavMed.com, also known as Canadian Pharmacy, Cisco senior researcher Henry Stern says.

The Waledac gang began deploying thousands of bots to spam out millions of e-mails with Web links purportedly leading to news about Jackson, he says. But the links actually redirected recipients to websites affiliated with GlavMed that sold sexual-performance drugs and pain killers.

A few hours later, another major botnet gang, known as Rustock, also blasted out Jackson-themed spam for GlavMed’s online shopping sites.

“Rustock is run by a different group of criminals, but here it was spamming the same e-mails as Waledac on behalf of a common client,” Peterson says.

A week after Jackson’s death, criminals out to steal sensitive data or hijack online financial accounts began to move in. A major botnet gang called Pushdo launched a large-scale spamming campaign with enticing messages including: “Who killed Michael Jackson? Visit X-Files to see the answer.” A Web link followed.

Clicking on it triggered what’s known as a “drive-by download.” The attacking bot scans for security holes in popular applications such as Internet Explorer, QuickTime and Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Sony Pictures, in an attempt to cash out on Michael Jackson’s postmortem surge in popularity, has doled out $60 million to get the rights to the singer’s rehearsal clips from his planned “This Is It” tour. The media company plans to sift through the 80 hours of footage to piece together a film that will be available to fans this fall. This comes from LA Times writer Patrick Goldstein, who expresses some doubt about Sony’s financial gamble here:

But the media giant that’s made the biggest bet is Sony Pictures, which reportedly has shelled out close to $60 million for the rights to 80 or so hours of rehearsal footage from the singer’s “This Is It” tour concert. The footage is being edited into a concert film, also tentatively titled “This Is It,” which will hit theaters on Oct. 30. No one from Sony is talking, since the final details of the deal are still in negotiation. But insiders say the lion’s share of the profits from the film will go to Jackson’s estate.

Sony gets its cut from the studio’s distribution fee on the film, though the studio also has to foot the bill for the marketing costs of the release. On the other hand, Sony has worldwide rights for the film, which extend through the movie’s ancillary life, from its theatrical release into what are normally lucrative home video and pay and free TV windows. According to insiders, Sony’s distribution fee is slightly above 10%, with escalator clauses in the deal providing the studio with a bigger cut if the film performs better at the box office.

Is it a good deal for Sony? The simple answer is: Nobody knows. There’s really no precedent for the Jackson death mania, so its impossible to say whether it will spur millions of fans to pay $11 to see footage of his tour rehearsals a full four months after he’s died…

Funeral’s are a time to remember. We need to focus on the death of our loved ones – for that final goodbye, and to give closure on that chapter of our lives. But we also need to give attention to the departed’s life, not just their death. There is so much good to remember, and so many memories to be revisited. A death only takes a moment, but our loved ones were with us an entire lifetime.

Yesterday in Times Square, Michael Jackson fans embraced this idea. As they watched the memorial service on the silent JumboTrons, they began to make their own music in memory of the King of Pop. Together they all celebrated the life of a truly influential, and musicly talented, man.

A 17-year-old kid from Levittown, L.I., Jason Sckup, just started busting those Michael moves. The rubbery high kick. The snake arms. The pigeon-toed slide. And yes, the moonwalk.

“Bomp-ba, bomp-ba, bomp-ba, bomp-ba,” St. Martin Bertrand started to sing the intro to “Billie Jean,” and everybody jumped out of their lawn chairs.

“Bomp-ba, bomp-ba, bomp-ba, bomp-ba,” everybody clapped the beat and sang, as loudly as they could, bursting into the lyrics:

Billie Jean is not my lover

Organizers of Michael Jackson’s Tuesday memorial service said today that they will give away 17,500 tickets and will randomly draw names from people who register for the service to determine who will attend. The event will be live-streamed on television and on the Internet, and there will be no funeral procession.

Organizers will draw 8,750 names, and those people will receive two tickets each and wristbands on Monday. People can register for the drawing at Staplescenter.com.

No tickets will be sold to the event, organizers said at a news conference this morning at Staples Center.

So don’t be too upset if you don’t win. You can still watch at home. And for those of you who are hoping to win in order to sell them off:

Ken Sunshine, a spokesman for the Jackson family, and Leiweke emphasized that they do not want anyone to try to scalp tickets.

“Those who would take advantage of this, shame on them,” (Tim) Leiweke said.

So please show some respect for the King of Pop. Read entire article here.
