Michael Jackson had dreams of bringing a childhood superhero to life, according to famous comic book writer Stan Lee.

Lee reported this weekend that he had been in discussions with Jackson about producing a Spider-Man movie. Jackson, who had an extensive collection of superhero costumes and statues, apparently wanted to play the next Spidey. Move over Tobey Maguire!

Marvel legend Stan Lee, 86, said the King of Pop had discussed his plans to produce the flick – and believes he wanted to play the eponymous web-slinger himself.

Mr Lee, a veteran comic book writer and the brains behind the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Hulk, Daredevil and many others, made the revelation during the annual San Diego Comic-Con on Friday.

“I had been to his place in Neverland. He wanted to do Spider-Man,” he said.

“I’m not sure whether he just wanted to produce it or wanted to play the role. Our conversation never got that far along.”

Asked if he thought Jackson would have taken the title role, Mr Lee replied: “I suspect so.”

From Telegraph.

It’s unfortunate that we’ll never have an opportunity to see this happen. At the same time, though, we have to wonder if Jackson was in the proper shape to handle all the stunts that would beĀ  involved with playing Spiderman. If he was on oxygen and dealing with exhaustion at the time of his death, we’re guessing that web-slinging tricks would have been a little too difficult to pull off.
